A recent ATV-related death in Arizona has brought attention to the commonly overlooked dangers of operating these vehicles. In response to an August study , More kids die on ATVs than bikes, an EMS1 member wrote, "This article needs to be introduced into every First Responder, EMT and paramedic class...[the] State of GA requires a helmet to be worn for a motorcycle, why not an ATV?"

Does awareness of ATV-related accidents deserve a place among EMT curriculum? What can first responders learn about these all-terrain vehicles that would be practical and beneficial to patients?
