EMS professionals may sometimes find themselves in bizarre and compromising situations where they must rely on their training to solve problems.

A Canadian paramedic found himself in such a situation, where he survived 96 hours in the wilderness by eating rotting beaver meat and fending off wild animals. The medic said he used important facts, such as body temperature, learned through EMS training to stay alive.

What situations have you been through where your EMS training was a valuable asset? Which skill sets do you feel have wide implications for practical safety uses?
