Another transport-related LODD has struck the EMS community this week. Ind. Capt. David Sherfick was killed in a head-on collision with a Jeep that drifted into his lane while he was returning from a transport. According to The Fatal Accident Reporting System, there were 22 fatal ambulance crashes in the U.S. in 2006.

How does driving education for the general public factor into safety issues? Do you think new protocols will reduce the number of accidents or are driving dangers just a part of the job?
