In Washington, the D.C. Fire & EMS Department is making radical changes to the structure of the department to become a "fully integrated, all-hazards agency."

With the initial training, ongoing education, and responsibility of a paramedic, many view this as a good move. What do you think? Do you have similar inequality issues and concerns in your department? Should EMS and Fire be seperated as indicated by Kenneth Lyons, EMS Union president for DC Fire/EMS?
