I have been in emergency services for over 13 years, 10 in EMS. I am currently a preceptor in a 911 service & a paramedic student. I have recently undertaken a 16 year old female who is hearing impaired and is extremely enthusiastic about getting into EMS. She starts EMT class in January, wears hearing aides (without them she is almost 100% deaf). My partner and I have been doing a ton of research with hearing impaired folks, ems publications, authors, as well as equipment for the hearing impaired.
That's where you all come in! If you are or know someone who is hearing impaired, can offer some advice, or first hand experiences my partner and I would appreciate it! As I said we have already looked into the stethoscopes, & I'd like to keep this in a positive manner. My partner & I know this is not going to be a walk in the park for any of us. We have already had some negative comments, interactions, etc.
