Her in Quebec a news story broke about a Paramedic that refused to speak English to a man who's daughter was having a seizure. Language is always a tense issue here, but with 30% of the population being English, some think it is important be able to communicate in English, while other think because we are a french province French is the only language necessary and if the patient doesn't understand too bad.
My question is for EMTs and Paramedics that work in many ethnic communities with a large latio population perhaps, how important is learning a second language and what is you employer doing to encourage you to learn a second language.
