South Dakota is one of a handful of states without a statewide trauma system. Now EMS officials are pushing for legislation that would develop rules for patient transfer protocols, among other rules.

Which areas do you think are crucial in developing a strong statewide trauma care system? If you work in a state that does have a statewide system, what are some of its strengths and weaknesses?
